Presentation of La Fourche
The brand
La Fourche was born in July 2018 when three thirty-something friends who graduated from HEC, Lucas, Boris, and Nathan, decided to create an online store for organic products.
Their ambition is to promote more responsible consumption by enabling as many people as possible to consume organic and quality products at affordable prices.
In order not to burden their consumers with the margin cost, La Fourche is financed by an annual subscription system.
This allows the grocery store to have prices between 20 and 50% cheaper than large organic supermarkets.
La Fourche selects a wide choice of everyday products, both food and non-food, favoring proximity, respect for producers, and the environment.
The company favors Made in France when possible.
The products
La Fourche offers over 4000 handpicked organic products. 80% are food and 20% are non-food.
All the products are organic, healthy, minimally processed, natural, free of additives and GMOs.
To promote zero waste, La Fourche also offers more than 100 bulk options.
The product ranges available are very comprehensive, from sweet and savory groceries to household products:
- Sweet grocery: flours, sugars, biscuits, chocolates, compotes, cereals, jams, honey, coffee, tea…
- Savory grocery: dried fruits, spices, sauces and condiments, preserves, soups, ready meals…
- Bulk: dried fruits, cereals and legumes, pasta…
- Beauty: body and face care, shampoos and shower gels, makeup, deodorant…
- Baby: diapers, infant milk, ready meals, biscuits, porridges…
- House: laundry care, home maintenance, drugstore and pet supplies…
La Fourche also develops its own products co-created with its members. Through a survey, the final product is decided: packaging, origin, ingredients used…
The choices of the members will have an impact on the price and the carbon footprint of the finished product.
Today, this range includes 70 options, such as tomato sauce, coffee, olive oil, and coconut milk. The goal is to reach 110 options by the end of the year.

Our Test
Produits ★★★★☆
I received my order at a collection point 4 days after placing it, in a securely sealed box with side notches to facilitate transport.
The products are carefully protected by kraft paper and cardboard to prevent any breakage.
A thank you card is included in the order, featuring the faces of the 3 creators and the values of La Fourche.
All product information is very clear. It includes the nutri-score giving an idea of its nutritional value and the eco-score, indicating its carbon impact.
Also includes the product description, storage method, nutritional values, and ingredients list.
The place of manufacture of the products is highlighted.
I had the opportunity to test several products from La Fourche’s range. For this test, I selected three essential gourmet breakfast items: peanut butter, organic spread, and double chocolate muesli.
100% Organic Peanut Butter
La Fourche’s peanut butter is made in France by a Provençal company specializing in nut processing.
It is certified as a sustainable and living heritage company as it commits to producing while respecting the planet and supporting sustainable and solidarity agriculture.
It is composed of 100% roasted peanuts and is packaged in 500g glass jars. Its texture is smooth with small peanut bits scattered throughout.
I couldn’t find the origin of the peanuts on the packaging, but the product sheet online indicates they come from Egypt. There is no mention of fair trade labels. This product has a moderate carbon impact, it is rated B on the eco-score.
This product is a very energy-dense food because it contains more than 600 kcal/100g.
Despite its high fat content (around 49g/100g), it is extremely rich in protein (28g/100g) and fiber (7g/100g).
Filling and delicious, it is ideal for breakfast or as a snack accompanying a fruit or a slice of bread.
You can also use it in cooking as a substitute for regular fats to create creamy sauces with exotic flavors or in baking. Personally, I enjoy it on a slice of bread with banana. It’s delicious.
However, be careful not to consume it in large quantities as it is rich in saturated fats which, in excess, could be harmful to cardiovascular health. It’s advisable not to consume more than one tablespoon per day.
Organic Hazelnut Chocolate Spread Without Milk
La Fourche’s spread is made in Italy near Rome by the De Angelis family, respecting the environment and traditions.
The hazelnuts used in the recipe are sourced from harvests in the same region. It is packaged in a 350g glass jar and stored at room temperature.
In terms of its composition, the spread is palm oil-free, with the fats used being sunflower oil and cocoa butter.
It contains only 13% hazelnuts, which is low compared to many other spreads on the market. Sugar comprises almost 50% of the recipe.
While the origin of the hazelnuts is well known, the origin of the cocoa is not, despite being labeled as fair trade. This information is not available on the website, nor from customer service.
This is surprising given the brand’s emphasized values and the “direct relationship with producers” positioning.
This spread, being high in sugar, is rated D on the Nutri-score, and is best consumed occasionally.
Like any product containing cocoa, its eco-score is somewhat high, rated C.
As for taste, I was a bit disappointed by its strong sweetness. It’s a shame there aren’t more hazelnuts and less sugar.
Crispy Duo Choco Organic Muesli
La Fourche’s muesli is made in Brittany by Céréco. It is packaged in a one-kilogram plastic bag.
Its composition mainly consists of whole oats, puffed cereals, and chocolate (around 10%).
The fat used is sunflower oil, and there are three sweeteners: cane sugar, rice syrup, and malt syrup.
The amount of sugar present in the product is 23 g / 100 g, which is relatively high compared to other mueslis available on the market.
It is rated C on the Nutriscore, has a moderate carbon impact, and is rated B on the eco-score.
I really enjoyed the taste and crunchiness of this muesli, however, the amount of sugar is somewhat excessive.
Again, I find it surprising and unfortunate that we do not know where the raw materials come from. According to the customer service, the oats come from the EU, without specifying which country, and the chocolate is fair trade, but its origin is also unknown.
For greater transparency with consumers, this information should be included on the product or at least on the product page of the website.

Transparence ★★★☆☆
La Fourche’s headquarters is based in Paris in the 19th arrondissement, and the warehouse is in Mitry-Mory in Seine-et-Marne.
The company currently has over 60 employees at headquarters and plans to have a staff of 100 people by the end of the year, with the recruitment of over 30 permanent contracts.
The products from La Fourche grocery store are all organic and rigorously selected. The brand only works with trusted producers and brands.
It collaborates with expert suppliers in their product category who handle the sourcing of raw materials and their processing themselves.
The place of manufacture of the products is always highlighted.
But for greater transparency, La Fourche should have been more informed about the sourcing of raw materials and provide clear information to consumers about the origin of the products.
On its website, the brand commits to:
- To respect the health of its members by selecting products without food additives, minimally processed, and GMO-free.
- To respect the environment by limiting packaging, promoting local products, and reducing its carbon impact in the food production chain up to delivery.
- To respect humanity by promoting direct relationships with producers, supporting fair trade, and favoring producer networks (on this last point, the three products I tested were not convincing)
Creators Nathan, Lucas, and Boris are often present in the media (especially Lucas). Their ambition is to help the French improve their way of consuming, regardless of their income.
Popularité ★★★★★
La Fourche has more than 50K members and aims to reach 100K by the end of the year.
On social networks, the company totals more than 127K subscribers on Facebook and 68.4K followers on Instagram, indicating a true, loyal, and involved community.
On the TRUSTPILOT site, there are almost 4450 reviews. The average rating is 4.8/5. The comments are mostly laudatory, highlighting quality, price, and speed of delivery.
Interestingly, for each product selected by La Fourche, you can view the rating and comments from other members. They are generally very positive.
Expertise ★★★★☆
The company has a team of about ten people responsible for the offer and product quality. This team possesses real expertise in organic products, nutrition, and product quality requirements.
La Fourche has a Blog where you can find numerous tips for more responsible consumption. Notably, you can read:
- homemade recipes for cooking and cosmetics
- zero waste tips
- natural health tips through diet
- interviews with representatives of committed brands
The blog is very interesting, but there is no information on the authors of the articles.
Confiance ★★★★☆
La Fourche benefits from a customer service reachable via a contact form.
A chatbot is available to answer questions. If it doesn’t find an answer, a person contacts us by email.
I sent a message to better understand the origin of the raw materials of the products I tested. The customer service is responsive but unfortunately did not have specific information about the sourcing.
The products are packaged in France or Europe, and most products receive dual AB and European organic certifications.
La Fourche is committed to a sustainable approach and acts to limit its carbon impact. 100% of parcels are made from recycled and recyclable cardboard, with no plastic.
Additionally, a study conducted by FEVAD calculated the carbon impact of e-commerce stores. When delivery is made to a pick-up point, the carbon impact is 4 times lower compared to a local store.
La Fourche also works for the professional reintegration of disabled workers, young people who have left the school system through the second-chance school, and collaborates with Emmaus Challenge.
Finally, in an effort to make organic products accessible to as many people as possible, for each paid membership, another is offered to a household in a precarious situation.
