Feeding children healthily: a constant challenge!

We feel guilty towards our children because we feel we’re never doing well enough, especially when it comes to food.

In this special episode, designed to speak directly to children at bedtime, we will navigate with Marie, mother of 6 children and a great culinary author, to see that good habits may be simpler than they seem.

The guest: Marie Chioca

I have been following Marie Chioca’s work for a long time. She is a mother of 6 children and the author of more than forty healthy cooking books, mainly published by Terre Vivante.

She runs two blogs, one on cooking (saines-gourmandises.fr), the other on gardening (permaculture-familiale.fr), as well as an Instagram account on joyful frugality and the beauties of nature.

Through her advice and tips, and even the little games she’s introduced with her tribe, we will see that the important thing is both to nourish these growing bodies healthily, teach them to do it themselves, and give them good habits for the future.

And above all, without sacrificing pleasure, which is so important in cooking!

My questions

  • Marie, tell us about your 6 children!
  • What would you like to start by saying to the children who are listening to us?
  • What recipes do you make the most with children? With teenagers?
  • How do you convey your love of cooking?
  • What would you recommend for the sacred snack time?
  • And for breakfast, often quick, before rushing off to school?
  • What foods do you think should be avoided for a growing body? Tell us why?
  • What good habits should be adopted as quickly as possible?
  • How to shop as healthily as possible for children when time is limited?
  • A question for parents; how not to feel guilty?
  • Do you have tips for generally optimizing meal preparation?
  • I often talk about pleasure, diversity, and incorporating more plant-based foods in cooking. How do we adapt this for children?
  • And a question for the future writers listening to us… How do you start writing books?
