Rye: Benefits, Dosage, Contraindications

Updated on

Rye is a cereal from the grass family, characterized by thin leaves borne on a sturdy and flexible stalk that can reach up to 2 meters in height. At the top of this hollow stem, the inflorescence is a simple spike that produces elongated grains. Historically, rye is cultivated in cold regions on poor soils. The secondary roots of rye are used in gemmotherapy. Rye is rich in zinc, iron, folates, and various B vitamins. It is particularly useful for liver protection and improving dermal and epidermal healing.

Liver disorders
✪✪✪✪

Young rye roots are used in gemmotherapy primarily for their effectiveness on the liver and skin. They have a notable healing action on liver cells, particularly in the treatment of chronic hepatitis. This soothing and reparative property of rye enhances the action of other plants like juniper or rosemary, thus improving their effectiveness on the liver.
