The benefits of CBD oil
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil is also called “cannabidiol oil.” It is extracted from hemp (Cannabis sativa), a plant native to Central Asia, and is not psychoactive, unlike recreational cannabis.
Different parts are used to obtain this precious vegetable oil. Seeds, stems, leaves, and even flowers can be harvested and then pressed.
This results in CBD extract which is then diluted in a vegetable carrier oil. It is most often olive oil or hemp oil.
Cannabidiol oil is characterized by a vegetal and herbaceous scent. It is used both in cooking and for skin and hair care. It is also consumed as a dietary supplement, either pure or in capsules.
The virtues of hemp
Hemp is mainly cultivated for its seeds called “hempseeds.” Very nutritious, they are a source of plant-based proteins, fibers, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. They also contain essential fatty acids (omega-3-6-9). But other parts of the plant are also interesting.
It is in the leaves and stems that a significant concentration of cannabinoids including cannabidiol is found. As shown in this study, these active molecules have anti-stress potential and relieve anxiety.

CBD oil might also help reduce inflammation, prevent certain cancers and cardiovascular diseases. Studies are underway to confirm these benefits.
How to choose your CBD oil?
CBD oil and hemp oil: what’s the difference?
Hemp oil and cannabidiol oil are often confused. However, it is important to distinguish them because they do not have the same properties.
Hemp vegetable oil, or hemp seed oil, is obtained by pressing the seeds only. It contains no cannabidiol or other cannabinoids.
CBD oil, on the other hand, is produced from seeds as well as leaves, stems, and flowers of the plant. It contains various cannabinoid compounds:
- cannabidiol (CBD)
- cannabichromene (CBC)
- cannabigerol (CBG)
- cannabinol (CBN)
- cannabinodiol (CBDL)
Its consumption is not authorized in all countries. Moreover, it must contain less than 0.2% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Be sure to check the product label before making your choice.
Quality criteria
We recommend choosing a vegetable oil cold-pressed. This process ensures a quality oil, concentrated in active ingredients and with intact virtues. It should also be natural, without GMOs, additives, or preservatives.
Certified organic oils are free from pesticide residues. Also, favor those made from hemp cultivated in France or in Europe.
Ideally, choose a CBD oil diluted in olive oil, hemp, or sunflower oil. Avoid palm oil.
Oil known as “full spectrum” or “broad spectrum” contains all the cannabinoids from hemp. It also contains other natural plant components: terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, trace elements…
Finally, consider the CBD concentration which can range from 5 to 30%. The more concentrated the oil, the more potent it is.
How to use CBD oil?
In cooking
It has a quite peculiar taste, both earthy and herbaceous. You can add a few drops to salads, sauces, and dressings. It also adds an original touch to smoothies, cakes, and cookies. However, it is not suitable for cooking or frying.
Once opened, it is very sensitive to oxidation. Store it at room temperature, in a cool, dark place. You can also keep it in the refrigerator. Consume within 6 months.
As a dietary supplement
It can be consumed pure, directly on the tongue or on a sugar cube. In this case, it is important to hold it in the mouth for several seconds. The active ingredients will be absorbed more quickly through the oral mucous membranes.
You can also opt for CBD oil capsules to enjoy its benefits without tasting it.
For skin care
Cannabidiol oil is interesting to relieve acne because it is anti-inflammatory. It is also antioxidant and fights against free radicals.
It slows down skin aging and the appearance of signs of aging. Finally, it soothes irritations and calms sensitive skin.
For external use, apply a few drops directly onto your skin and massage gently. Perform a skin test on the inside of the elbow first. You can also find natural CBD cosmetics and skincare products in stores.
For hair care
Rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, it nourishes, strengthens, and promotes hair growth. It is particularly recommended to slow down hair loss.
It can also help regulate sebum production and alleviate scalp problems (eczema, dandruff, itching…).
Apply CBD oil as an oil bath, alone or combined with other vegetable oils (castor, jojoba, argan…). It is also suitable for homemade hair care products.
