Like many higher education degrees, the BTS Dietetics is dense and demanding. It is essential for anyone wishing to practice as a dietitian-nutritionist independently or as an employee.
Both in person and with 100% online, the training lasts two years, paced by a scientific program from culinary techniques to physiopathology, including biochemistry.
Distance learning can indeed be appealing. It offers two main advantages in my opinion: flexibility in the learning path and lower cost.
However, I think it is crucial to ensure your success as a student by having a serious, motivating, and realistic framework facing the challenges of this field. It should provide you with all the necessary tools for the exam.
To help you choose your BTS Dietetics distance (or by correspondence), I compared the 6 private training programs currently available according to 4 main criteria. And I evaluated and rated each of them.
Schools analyzed: Studi (brand Academee), Skill and You (brands Be Academie, Educatel), L’atelier des Chefs, Etudis (Adonis), E-Diderot, and IFSNM.
We evaluate all training programs independently. If you request information, we will forward your contact details to the concerned institutions.
Methodology
To compare the institutions offering this BTS at a distance, I determined four main criteria to evaluate and differentiate them.
Each criterion is assigned a score out of 5, based on the information collected and my interactions with each of the schools. The average of the four determines the final selection.
1. Pedagogical and academic quality
The first criterion allows us to first verify the school’s quality labels and the recognition of the diploma obtained, as well as the teachers’ qualifications.
Most schools also estimate an average number of teaching hours for the two years of BTS Dietetics, although the student manages their working time alone.
Different educational supports are also made available and compared according to their relevance and the duration of access to various resources.
Unfortunately, I could not assess the success rate, which seems to me an important argument. Most schools do not specify it or it remains declarative without any means of verification.
Indeed, the rectorate does not differentiate students: public schools, private, distance learning, in-person, or independent candidates. The national success rate of the BTS Dietetics is on average below 50%.
2. Accessibility and student support
The second criterion compares the presence of tutoring and personalized support for the student. Between internships, a thesis to write, and written exams, support is important.
The possibility to interact with teachers, other students and its frequency is a positive point for the concerned schools.
Finally, I attach importance to administrative support, such as registration for the exam and internship agreements.
3. Cost and additional services
The prices for distance learning and financing solutions vary from one school to another. This is obviously part of the selection criteria.
Several educational options are available, included or paid: coaching, specific subjects, and others. Their relevance contributes to the evaluation of this criterion.
I also found it interesting to compare the access duration to resources and the possibility of in-person attendance for some schools.
4. Opportunities and Recognition
The BTS dietetics includes mandatory internships: a total of 20 weeks. In collective catering or the hospital sector, some schools can help you find them more easily.
I considered the employment support. Some schools care about this, and I find it essential. Although none can provide figures regarding professional integration that could assess this reality of the profession.
Finally, reading the reviews on student forums as well as online ratings completes my analysis of the six distance learning providers chosen.
Best Online BTS Dietetics
# Best Distance BTS Dietetics 🥇
L’atelier des Chefs: 19/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★★
Support : ★★★★★
Coûts : ★★★★★
Débouchés : ★★★★☆
Price: €3490 – CPF Funded
The professional reality of L’atelier des Chefs is an asset for learning the dietitian’s profession. Pedagogy, content, and practice are at the heart of the training. The human contact and proximity of the teachers place it at the top of the ranking.
Advantages
- Professional network
- Network of students and alumni
- Qualifications of teachers
- Possibility of on-site internship for the ATA exam
- Overall success rate of all courses included at 97%
Disadvantages
- Paid thesis coaching
- Lack of experience due to the recent creation of the course
Initially recognized for its cooking classes, L’atelier des Chefs stands out for the richness of its content and its professional approach.
Certified Qualiopi and validated by experts, Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, it has recently diversified by offering distance degree programs.
A refresher course is included for students who need it. The modules follow the national framework, ensuring good preparation for exams.
The online support offers content available for up to 3 years:
- written courses
- live courses or available in replay
- videos and podcasts in open access.
A two-day in-person internship, in the Paris region, to prepare for the ATA exam, Technological Food Activities, is possible.
The educational advisor mentions quality teachers, dietitians and chefs, naming them and citing their profiles on networks. A human approach seems to be at the heart of the course, explaining the student-teacher interactions, corrections, and the possibilities for questions and answers.
A personalized support is noted with an industry expert for technical questions, and a coach for motivation and other inquiries.
A drawback in my opinion: the thesis coaching is chargeable, as with many schools. However, the all-inclusive training price remains within the averages and is not the highest in the market.
With a solid professional network, L’atelier des Chefs offers good prospects for both internships and post-diploma professional integration.
A “recruitment forum” is also available for students. A business creation coaching is also offered, at an additional cost, and may suit according to your project.
# Best Alternative
Skill and You: 16/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★☆
Support : ★★★★☆
Coûts : ★★★★☆
Débouchés : ★★★★☆
Price: €3470 – CPF Funded
In summary, the Skill and You platform offers quality training. The possibility to maintain exam scores above average for 5 years is explained, testifying to a transparency regarding the difficulty level of this BTS. Its competitive price payable in 36 installments makes it accessible to more people.
Advantages
- Competitive cost
- Digital tools
- Access to the platform for 48 months
- Professors selected for their qualifications and professional background
- Commitment to providing personalized support: corrections, coaching…
Disadvantages
- Overall success rate of 60% (all courses combined, which may seem relatively low compared to other similar platforms)
- Mobile app needs improvement according to some student reviews
- Autonomy in finding internships often criticized in student reviews
Skill and You is one of the European leaders in distance learning, grouping several specialized schools, including Be Academie and Educatel. The 3 brands offer the same BTS nutrition remotely.
The school highlights its flexibility and modern digital tools: intuitive platform, interactive virtual classes, mobile app and well-structured digital teaching supports.
Cooking videos are also accessible, as well as a student space 24/7 to facilitate exchanges.
The school mentions a partnership with Hellowork to facilitate access to job and internship searches.
Educational options such as refresher courses, life coaching, and TOEIC are available (fee-based).
The total cost of the online BTS Nutrition course is among the lowest in the field, and a 36-month payment plan can facilitate access.
E-Diderot: 15/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★★
Support : ★★★☆☆
Coûts : ★★★★☆
Débouchés : ★★★☆☆
Price: €2,990 – €6,700 – CPF Fundable
E-Diderot justifies its rather high price with its expertise, the extent of its supports, content and personalized support. Despite several criticisms from former students and teachers highlighting the sometimes overly commercial approach of the institution, access to campuses is a real “plus” and its place in the top 3.
Advantages
- Many years of experience in teaching this BTS
- Open house days
- “Partners” network through the Diderot Education Group
- Access for distance students to co-working spaces on campuses
- Live cooking classes to prepare the ATA
Disadvantages
- High cost
- Platform accessible only for 2 years (+ catch-up period), then requires payment again
- Negative feedback from students and teachers regarding the school’s structural framework
E-Diderot belongs to the Diderot Education Group, active in higher education for over twenty years, initially specializing in dietetics and human nutrition.
The school has managed to evolve with new technologies, offering interactive remote training certified by Qualiopi. Modern digital tools such as an app and an intuitive platform are part of their arguments.
Flexible solutions ranging from “initial” to “integral” are presented to meet the needs and budgets of students.
However, the most comprehensive packages seem the most interesting from a pedagogical point of view and therefore the most costly. These are the “enhanced” and “integral” packages.
They naturally include the e-learning platform, but also individual pedagogical coaching, virtual classes, several mock exams, thesis correction, everything necessary to be ready for the exam.
I really like the active pedagogy emphasized: providing courses before class time, so accessible at all times, before and after exercises.
As well as the opportunity to physically access the nearest campuses. For students feeling isolated or needing to work outside the home, this is a significant advantage.
E-Diderot also offers numerous very interesting additional options, once again fee-based: such as training to support an athlete with nutritional guidance.
Etudis (Adonis): 14/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★☆
Support : ★★★☆☆
Coûts : ★★★★☆
Débouchés : ★★★☆☆
Price: €1450 – €6600 – CPF fundable
The Adonis group boasts many years of experience in both on-site and distance education. However, their offering stands out little from others and remains vague regarding guidance and the cooking internship.
Advantages
- Many years of experience in teaching this BTS
- Open house days
- Student card
- Personalized corrections
- In-person cooking internship possible (Easter period)
Disadvantages
- High cost
- Platform accessible only for 2 years, then requires re-payment
- No mobile app
- Unclear details on the in-person internship and the number of mock exams
- Some testimonials indicate communication issues and insufficient support
Known for its expertise in dietetics and paramedical fields, Etudis, part of the ADONIS group specializing in health and nutrition training, has been offering a distance version for about ten years.
The teachers are all professionals in the subjects taught and a space is dedicated to student-teacher exchanges. Phone appointments are possible depending on the chosen package.
Indeed, four different packages offer access to personalized support, live classes, or oral simulation exercises.
Here too, the cost is quite high once certain options, which are essential for the successful completion of this distance course, are chosen.
Another point, a refresher course is said to be mandatory for non-scientific students (additional cost).
The courses are structured using paper and digital resources. Regular assignments are required to assess knowledge, with personalized corrections provided.
Adonis mentions an option for in-person cooking classes in certain cities, provided there are enough registered students (no further details).
An extended professional network for internships highlights the possibility of opportunities. Following the BTS in Dietetics, two courses are offered that may interest future graduates.
Academee (Studi): 14/20
Pédagogie : ★★★★☆
Support : ★★★★☆
Coûts : ★★★☆☆
Débouchés : ★★★☆☆
Price: €3890 – CPF fundable
The school emphasizes its e-learning expertise and career coaching to support each project. The pedagogical approach is less convincing, with courses accessible only step by step, a lack of response on the number of mock exams available, and the possibility of the diploma in 1 year.
Advantages
- Career coaching
- Teacher qualifications
- Modern teaching tools (application, e-learning partnership)
- Thesis writing assistance announced as included
- Promises of exchanges with teachers and quick responses to your questions
Disadvantages
- Platform available only for 2 years
- Courses not immediately available but to be unlocked over the months
- Proposal to complete the BTS in 1 year
In 1999, Studi and the M6 group created a 100% online school called Academee. This coincided with the beginnings of the internet. In 2021, Studi and Academee ventured into training future health professionals.
e-Learning and numerous digital partnerships (like Galileo Global Education) demonstrate a true desire to offer innovative and fun tools for learning.
The platform, available for 2 years, is also accessible via an app: over 4000 live courses delivered by dietitians, doctors, and specialized teachers, replays, downloadable courses in pdf…
Academee also provides access to chat rooms between students and invites student-teacher exchanges. Responses to queries are promised within a maximum of 24 hours.
I found few details regarding thesis writing assistance and its necessity for the exam on the website. But I got information via phone: the support with a dedicated teacher would be included.
There’s one piece of data I think would be helpful to know: the number of mock exams included in the program, which I find useful to know.
Finally, the school emphasizes the career coaching included in the training. It amounts to 40 hours of tutorials to assist in finding internships, promoting professional integration, and obtaining a “Ready for work” certificate.
Academee offers a certain professional realism, without really providing a professional network. However, I found the mention of completing this BTS in one year, both on the website and by phone, unrealistic.
IFSNM: 10/20
Pédagogie : ★★★☆☆
Support : ★★☆☆☆
Coûts : ★★★☆☆
Débouchés : ★★☆☆☆
Price: €4850 – CPF Financed
This training institute is specialized solely in the field of nutrition. For this first year, there is a certain lack of feedback on the actual number of mock exams, the real personalized follow-up that a student could benefit from, and the diploma to be completed in one year. The cost is quite high.
Advantages
- Commitment to personalized follow-up
- Interactive and playful pedagogy
- Approach to the profession with a focus on micronutrition, phytotherapy…
Disadvantages
- High cost
- Lack of feedback (1st year of creation)
- Option to complete the BTS in 1 year
- Only one mock exam
- Lack of precision regarding personalized tutoring sessions
The Higher Institute of Nutrition and Micronutrition Training (IFSNM) offers the BTS Dietetics remotely for the 1st year. This 100% online course was created by healthcare professionals.
The teaching team also includes scientists: pharmacists and dieticians.
The institute aims to provide advanced educational support. For now, tutoring is estimated at an average of 10 sessions per year.
The IFSNM highlights an interactive pedagogy with quizzes, virtual classes, and practical exercises in continuous assessment, while offering long-term access to resources after the training.
However, over the phone, this information is contradicted as they tell me access is only for 24 months. Only one mock exam is currently planned.
The BTS is also possible in one year, intensively. Over the phone, I mentioned a potential need for leveling for non-scientists, which I found to be met with a fairly unrealistic response: “it is not necessary.”
Although the institute values personalized follow-up, support for finding internships and the post-diploma professional life does not appear to be a priority for now.
I find the approach to the profession interesting, with a focus on nutrition and micronutrition. Graduated dieticians can also choose a specific training.

My advice for choosing the right distance BTS Dietetics
It’s not easy to choose the right training. The stakes are high because preparing for the Higher Technician Certificate in Dietetics remotely can be more difficult than in person.
A commercial incentive certainly drives these private schools, but that’s also the case for in-person training. The interlocutors can be more or less convincing, without proving the seriousness of the content delivered afterwards.
I therefore advise you to compare the rates as well as the financing solutions according to your situation. Also pay attention to the flexibility and practical tools you need.
Another tip, don’t hesitate to contact former students to know their opinions and experiences. To do this, simply search by keyword on LinkedIn.
Self-discipline, organizational skills, your scientific skills, and your motivation are the major assets that will make the biggest difference.
