Listen to this episode

Inflammation is talked about everywhere these days. We’re not quite sure if it pertains to our bodies, our hearts, our minds, our screens, or even our forests. Multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, chronic inflammatory bowel disease – these debilitating diseases, mostly of autoimmune origin, affect 5% to 8% of the population, and this number is only increasing.

Three quarters of these patients are women. The AIP protocol, which we will discuss today, by combating chronic inflammation and thus immune system dysfunctions, could potentially silence them.

The guests: Ludy de Menten and Sonia Sidle

Today I have two guests, who have co-signed a book published by Thierry Souccar, titled “Healing Autoimmunity with the AIP Protocol”.

Ludy de Menten is a doctor in biology and a health coach specializing in nutrigenomics. She has Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and vitiligo.

Sonia Sidle is a nutrition therapist and coach. She suffers from endometriosis as well as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, just like her teenage son.

My questions

  • You openly talk about your respective diseases, is it thanks to them that you explored these topics of immunity and inflammation?
  • What is the connection between chronic inflammation and autoimmune diseases?
  • What are the various triggers of these inflammatory diseases?
  • What exactly are intestinal dysbiosis and intestinal permeability?
  • What are the most inflammatory foods and the associated deficiencies?
  • How can we improve our digestion? You give three tips that I found very interesting.
  • Where does the AIP protocol come from? Can you explain what it consists of in a few words?
  • How to reduce inflammation? And especially through the dietary component?
  • Can you tell us about the 9 superfood heroes you mention in your book?
  • And the foods to exclude?
  • What are the different steps of the protocol to approach it smoothly?
  • What are the main principles of an AIP plate?
  • Can all foods be reintroduced after an elimination phase?
  • Even if one is not affected by an autoimmune disease, can one follow its nutritional precepts (I wonder about the exclusion of legumes during the elimination phase, for example). What would be your nutritional advice for people without apparent autoimmune diseases?
  • Can you give us one or two favorite recipes?
